Celebrate Aging All Year Long

Clark-Lindsey, Health Alliance, OSF, and the College of Applied Health Sciences are coming together to recognize positive aging through a new series of FREE, quarterly public events! Be sure to mark your calendars for the following age-friendly activities:

 

 

January 25th, 2020- The Intern showing and Career and Opportunity Fair

The Intern movie showing at The Carle Pollard Auditorium, followed by a Career and Opportunity Fair designed to meet the occupational wants and needs of those 55 and better. The movie begins at 1pm and will end around 3pm. The Career and Opportunity Fair will start after the movie showing and remain open until 5pm. All ages welcome! Please RSVP at 217-239-5201.

 

Past events:

April 6th, 2019- Celebrate Aging: Carnival at Clark-Lindsey

This event, from 1pm until 3pm, includes games, caricature drawings, facepainting, funnel cakes, cotton candy, popcorn, lemonade, and other light refreshments, minature horses, blood pressure checks, tech help, and more! All ages welcome! 

 

July 19th, 2019- Fifty-Five After 5 

Join us for drinks, appetizers, pizza, photobooth, music and trivia at Jupiter's at the Crossing from 5:30pm-8pm on Friday, July 19th! Trivia begins at 6:30pm. All ages welcome! Please RSVP at 217-239-5201.

 

October 11th, 2019- Health Matters Day

This interactive and engaging health resource fair at the Savoy Rec Center, from 9am until 3pm, offers education and demonstrations on health matters facing those 55 & better. It will feature fall-risk screenings by the Illini Fall Clinic, chronic condition virtual reality (VR) simulations, health assessments by OSF staff, U of I faculty and graduate students, information about services, and demonstrations of exciting research with older adults happening on campus and much more! Attendance is free, but reservations are required to participate in the Fall Clinic Assessment and VR. Please RSVP at 217-239-5201. 

 

October 17th, 2019- CarFit:

Clark-Lindsey, the Parkland Colege Occupational Therapy Assistant program, AAA Chicaogo, and AARP are coming together to make sure mature drivers are safe in their vehicles. CarFit offers you the opportunity to check how well your personal vehicle “fits” you. Trained technicians perform a 12-point inspection with you and your vehicle. The program provides information and materials on resources that could enhance your safety as a driver, and/or increase your mobility in the community. CarFit will take place between 1pm and 4pm at Stone Creek Church. Spots are limited. Reserve yours at 217-239-5201.

 

The Celebrate Aging program recognizes positive aging and healthy lifestyles through a series of quarterly events. Free and open to the public, these events are designed to meet individuals' physical, spiritual, social, and intellectual wellness needs, particularly those 55 and better.
