A New Way of Life

The Green House model is a new way of doing long-term nursing home care that is designed to look and feel like home. It’s a place where each person lives the way he or she wants, where people know one another and become part of the family. At ClarkLindsey, we have two Green House Homes of 12 residents each.  Each are licensed for skilled nursing care.  They include private rooms and common areas with a family-like atmosphere where residents can socialize and eat a home-cooked meal at times that are best for them. The small size and home layout with advanced staff training provide an opportunity for highly personalized care.

Part of a National Movement

The Green House Homes at ClarkLindsey are part of the research-driven Green House Project®. A pioneer in aging services, ClarkLindsey is the first to bring the Green House model of care to Illinois on private land. Not only are Green House Senior Living Homes beautiful places to live, but the residents within them are proven to be happier and healthier. Research shows that Green House residents have four times more personal and social contact with staff members compared to residents of traditional nursing homes.

Shahbazim at Green House Homes

At the center of The Green House retirement home model is the Elder, supported by an empowered team of versatile workers, known as Shahbazim (plural for Shahbaz). A Shahbaz is a certified nurse assistant who receives additional education and training in order to nurture, sustain and protect the Elders, as well as provide light housekeeping, personal laundry, and meal preparation. Because of the deep knowing relationship that the Shahbazim have with the Elders, each day is an opportunity for meaningful engagement and relationship building for all.
